Reloved Design

ReLoved Design was born at the beginning of 2020 out of a need to furnish my first home on a very strict budget and a passion to extend the life of unwanted objects. I bring consideration for the original piece to every project and add an organic modern twist. I preserve the original wood of a piece whenever possible and incorporate sustainability into every choice. You will find a variety of repurposed items in my designs and environmentally friendly products in all of my designs – all for you to relove!

When I’m not working on my next furniture project, I spend my time photographing my travels and spending time with my partner, our dog, and our horses. You may also find my photography and artwork inspired by our travels in the shop, and can see more of my designs and renovation projects on instagram (@reloveddesign)!

Brushing Up on Vintage

Hello, my name is Jill. I am a furniture artist who enjoys taking vintage pieces and updating them for use today. These updates are through different painting techniques, staining, and decoupage. No two pieces are ever alike!

Red Rooster Relics

My name is Patty Walters, owner/designer of Red Rooster Relics. We are lovers of anything vintage, cast iron, or rusty materials that have a story to tell. We curate our items from many sources throughout the Chicago land area and the Midwest. We have been called funky, unique, and eclectic. I’d like to think we are a “fun” place to hunt for special treasures. Hope to see you soon!

Naughty Dogs Inc.

Meet the owners (two-legged and four)

Hi everyone, this is Kim, I’m half of the humans that make up Naughty Dogs Inc., the other half is my daughter, Becca. Our four-legged product testers, models, and sales associates are known as Fern, Loki, Alaska, and Altas. Otherwise lovingly referred to as the “naughty dog crew.” Our brand means a lot to us because our dogs mean a lot to us. Naughty Dogs was created from taking those extra special dogs and giving them a chance at a happy and successful life. These are the dogs who have a hard time finding homes and are often labeled as “naughty dogs.”

We advocate a lot for these dogs because we know how wonderful they are with that little extra time and work. And we hold the same policy with our dog gear. We put just a little (or a lot) of extra time and work into our gear to make sure it can keep up with the toughest of dog adventurers out there. Our material is fade-proof and water-resistant, so it can be worn all day every day while still looking new after a wash. Our goal is to provide not only super cute and reliable dog gear but also awareness and support to those “naughty dogs” who need it.

Madison & McKinley

I’m Kristen (Kiki to my family), and I’m an attorney by day and vintage vendor on nights and weekends. The thrill of the hunt at auctions, flea markets, and estate sales is my passion. I love to find oil paintings, signed art, and anything colorful and a bit quirky. Color brings me joy! Along with my husband, Scott, I upcycle old furniture to give it new life for the next generation. Our adventures are often filmed on my Instagram stories and will surely have you laughing.

What One Woman Sees

Amy has her degree in Fine Arts but spent most of her career in the retail field; first in stores and then in a corporate office. She did everything you need to operate a business — shipping, buying, product design, store layout, visual merchandising, creating and teaching standards, and finally labor and operations. So when her daughters went off to college, she took the chance to open her own store within a shop of other female entrepreneurs.

Her focus is original and reproduction art, antique/vintage frames, snarky tea towels, and classic women’s apparel with a citified twist in a Hollywood Regency setting. Having lived in an English Manor in a past life (not really, but it sounds cool) she often stacks frames, mirrors, and paintings into each other to use up every inch of wall space possible just like those wonderful old manor homes.

Republic Road

My name is Reanna Lyons, owner and founder of Republic Road. My husband and I live in Saint Charles with our two children. Our brand’s namesake is our former loving home from which our business bloomed, where my husband and I had an idea to combine our talents and form something bigger.

As an art teacher for ten years, constantly making events, finding joy in home styling, and working with my husband on home renovations, we decided to give entrepreneurship our best effort in 2019 where I would take the lead in building our brand. We are grateful for the opportunity to own our own business in town. Visit us at trend + relic and select local artisan fairs. We thank you for your support!

Wood Workings by Miko

Hello! My name is Christine Mikos and I am the founder and owner of Wood Workings by Miko. I started this small business in 2017 with just a miter saw (gifted by my husband) and a pencil. I had a dream to create beautiful and functional home décor, art, and furniture for everyone’s home. I’ve been growing, learning, and building ever since! Custom orders are my favorite, and the Wood Workings by Miko product line can be found at three shops, including trend + relic. I live in La Grange Park with my husband Rob and super shop dog Ernie. Thank you for reading and supporting small businesses! It means the world to us!

This Old Vintage

“You will always have room for things you love”

Donna is the owner and artist behind This Old Vintage. She has been professionally painting and selling furniture since 2016. Donna acquires only the highest quality antique and vintage furniture pieces and transforms them to blend perfectly in your home. Her attention to detail is second to none. All of This Old Vintage furniture is refinished using only the best furniture paint and then sealed for durability. While visiting her space, take note of the extra details she might have included such as a scented wood conditioner, a newly lined drawer, or even a design on the sides of the drawers. And for the curious, make sure to follow her on Instagram and Facebook. You will see upcoming pieces and various stages of the process.

Nancy Neill

After being inspired by her mother’s jewelry designs and passion for collecting interesting items, Nancy Neill left her “real job” over 35 years ago to take up jewelry making full time.

Her nature-inspired jewelry is individually crafted by Nancy, perched in her studio in Batavia, overlooking the Fox River. This distinctive jewelry is created from beautiful semi-precious stones, pewter and brass charms, and other hand-picked components.

When trend+relic opened in 2020, Nancy saw the opportunity to combine her love for distinctive vintage pieces and jewelry all in one place. Add to the mix some quirky canvas pouches, vintage-inspired posters, seasonal accents, and home accessories and you have the Nancy Neill Collection at trend + relic.

Danuta Loane

Just a few years after taking her first ceramics class, West Dundee potter Danuta Loane is enjoying a runaway success as a potter and pairing vintage with pottery at Trend and Relic in Saint Charles.

Danuta spends 4–8 hours a day in her West Dundee home studio, in-between searching for vintage treasures and working outside in her wooded yard. She is inspired by the nature just outside her studio door. The designs on her pottery are all one-of-a-kind and hand-carved resembling woodblock Japanese designs.

Mixing vintage with handmade pottery has been an exciting new adventure.

You can see more of her designs on Instagram at danutaloaneceramics (pottery) and badutas_bazaar (vintage).

I have had an extensive career in the retail world and the tech space, and am so happy to now have my own business and see my dreams come true with my own children’s collection.

My Artist Soul

Daniela is an American artist living in Chicago, specializing in painting, drawing, and illustration. Her work is about the human connection — our relationship with nature, with each other, and perhaps most importantly, with ourselves. Her style has been described as whimsical and serene, and on occasion, emerges with a dark and playful twist.

Daniela’s philosophy on life is quite simple: Love yourself, love others, and try to be kind and compassionate as much as humanly possible. (And know that it is humanly impossible to be this way all the time, so let that go.) When it comes to our own happiness, it is important to do what we love, appreciate small moments, welcome change, and always search for new experiences and inspiration.

Whimsy Beauty Design Boutique

Whimsy Beauty Design was born over 10 years ago when I saw a unique felt bracelet that inspired me to recreate one. Being a hairstylist for over 35 years I’ve always been an artsy soul and a fashionista, so it came naturally to me to create my business. I love taking vintage finds and pairing them with new, to create unique, one-of-a-kind items. I embellish hats and create unique belts, jewelry and scarves. I love showing you how to use my accessories in your wardrobe. My creativity doesn’t stop with fashion. I’ve always loved home décor so it felt natural to include in my shop. I love pushing my creativity to reinvent myself and learn new skills. Currently, I’m exploring painting, I love feeling the emotional connection of creating on canvas or glass. I just love what I do! Creating fashions or home decor that adds some joy to your world feeds my soul and I hope I can help feed yours too.

Salvage Made Design

It all began many moons ago when my mother used to physically drag me to estate sales. Her and my aunt had an Estate Sale company, and us kids would just be left to roam among strangers things. It sparked my love for vintage and design. As I got older, it just seemed normal to me to be digging through people’s things in the basement/attic of their outdated, but potentially amazing homes. It wasn’t until later I realized that other children’s shopping adventures didn’t look the same. And in fact, I had actually developed a skill over the years…of finding treasure among the trash. That mixed with my love of sustainability, it only seemed right to rescue all these old beauties!

alt

My name is Amy L. Thomson and I am the owner of ALT.  I currently live in St. Charles, Illinois with my husband, Kevin, my nine year old son, Archie, our basset hound, Henry and our newest member, a tortoise named Daisy.

My focus is refinishing and repurposing as much quality vintage and antique furniture as possible.  I also love to thrift for special, one of a kind vintage treasures as well as hand crafting home decor using scrap wood and other repurposed items.  I started refinishing furniture shortly after we purchased our home.  We have a large family and had many hand me downs, so refinishing several pieces was the only way to make it all our own.  After doing custom work on the side for many years, I decided to quit my office job and dive in 100%.  Since then, I have met so many amazing and creative fellow business owners and am proud to be a part of the local women owned small business community.

My goal is to bring as much new life to one of kind pieces to help folks make their house a home.

Goodlove Arts

Sherri Goodlove is a local artist/ photographer. Her work is primarily focused on nature as a divine source of beauty. As she says, “I am intuitively drawn to capture this divine force visually through my photography. Inspired by Claude Monet’s attempts to paint nature as he perceived it, I use nature as my paint and my camera as my canvas to create imagery as I feel it.:” Each piece of art is original and a limited edition prints. The photography is printed on fine art, archival paper and those which are framed are professionally done using museum grade materials. She has a variety of product available from coasters, cards, prints and calendars. (She is currently in the process of developing local St. Charles, Geneva and Batavia artwork! ) In addition to what you will find in the store, she is available for custom photography sessions of you and your loved ones. You can find out more information or reach her at http://www.goodlovearts.com

Vintage Rabbit

The Vintage Rabbit is the perfect name for Madeline’s small business. Her love of rabbits has been well known since she was a young girl. Her aunt even knitted bunny rabbits dressed as a bride and groom for her bridal shower gift, which she still cherishes to this day.
As much as she loves rabbits, Madeline also finds great satisfaction in repurposing furniture, finding that perfect addition or unique piece that completes and complements a design composition. Together with her husband, Dave, she has remodeled four homes, and helped family and friends by staging or suggesting decorating ideas.
Madeline has a background in teaching and art. She used that experience when she worked at Young Rembrandts, Inc., a nationally known art company. She started as one of the art teachers and moved into the role of a business coach.
Madeline enjoys the adventure of traveling, especially with family and friends. A book is always near-by when not working on a project.
